Physical Education

VI’s Physical Education curriculum emphasizes the philosophies and applications of physical fitness and healthy living. Whether you want to teach, coach, rehabilitate or work in a business related to health and fitness, you will be equipped with a solid foundation to encourage healthy lifestyle choices.

Through in-depth instruction, our program takes a comprehensive, balanced approach to education that combines course diversity with hands-on learning. Courses range from Sport Techniques and Athletic Training to Exercise Physiology and Hiking.  Our small class sizes allow each student to shine individually as they interact in our dynamic learning environment.

At VI, we encourage our students to take advantage of learning opportunities outside of the classroom. The Sport Management & P.E. Seminar provides health and physical education candidates with opportunities to observe experienced managers and educators in the industry. Pre-physical therapy and teaching licensure candidates have internship opportunities with local organizations and schools.

Areas of Concentration and Degree Programs:

  • Bachelor of Science
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Health and Physical Education with Teacher Licensure PreK-12

The B.S. degree connects you to and prepares you for your chosen concentration with such core courses as Basic Athletic Training, Sports Techniques, Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology. Our non-licensure concentrations offer room for minors and/or electives. A Sports Medicine minor is also available.
