Admission Requirements

Virginia Intermont’s Honors Program is designed for students who seek a distinctive, higher education experience.  The program offers an engaged, intellectual challenge and creates an enhanced learning environment. As an Honors student, you will deepen your knowledge and broaden your perspectives, preparing you for the globalized, knowledge-driven economy.

Honors candidates generally report a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and a strong ACT or SAT score (typically 1200 SAT or 26 ACT). Honors applicants also interview with faculty who serve on the Honors Program Council. Selections are always based on a holistic review of applicants.

How to Apply to the VI Honor’s Program

There are two avenues by which a student my be considered for the VI Honor’s Program:

  • Following holistic review of VI applicants, an Admissions Representative will invite suitable candidates to interview with faculty members from the VI Honors Program Council.
  • Applicants may also request an Honors interview with faculty members from the VI Honors Program Council; email  In the subject line, write “Request Honors Interview.”
