The Theatre Department at Virginia Intermont College presents as its season opener the contemporary play Next Fall by Geoffrey Nauffts. A unique, bold and surprising theatrical offering, Next Fall was presented on Broadway in 2010 and received two Tony nominations – for Best Play and Best Director. It is the story of Adam and Luke, a couple very much in love yet polarized by divergent religious beliefs: Luke is a devout born-again Christian while Adam is a devoted atheist. Parents and friends who cross their paths each have a strong individual religious conviction of their own. All are pulled into a challenge none of them wanted by a tragic incident that makes them examine their lives and beliefs. Of a play that takes a provocative look at gay relationships and religious convictions, Ben Brantley writes in the New York Times: “[Next Fall] considers how the need to believe in something beyond other people tests relationships – among lovers, friends and family members.”
The play contains adult themes and language and is not recommended for children.
General Admission tickets on sale at the door are $12 for Adults, $10 for Senior Citizens and $5 for students. For more information contact Bonny Gable at 276.466.7973 or email@example.com
