Rare Research Opportunities
Rare in the country, our students have the opportunity to participate in undergraduate level research in equine health, which focuses on horse nutrition and exercise and is valuable to students in the caring and training of horses. The findings are reported or published to the benefit of the entire equine industry.

Unique Practical Experience
Real world experience includes a student managed A-rated horse show held annually at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va., a premier competitive facility with an indoor coliseum and seating for 4,000. The “VI Classic Horse Show” provides our students the opportunity to gain work experience in all aspects of horse show management, including assisting trainers and instructors. The experience often results in internships and job placement.

Post-graduate Success
Our graduates live their dreams with high job placement. They succeed in careers ranging from instructors, trainers and barn managers to professional riding, even at the international level. They also enter veterinary medicine or achieve positions of industry leadership, including management of the U.S. Equestrian Federation and leadership of equine advisory boards, where they help to shape the future of America’s horse industry.

Scholarships
In support of the College Prep Invitational Horse Show, Virginia Intermont College is pleased to announce the opportunity of three $1,500 scholarships to seniors who participate in the CPI and enroll at Virginia Intermont College. To be eligible, students must compete at the CPI in their senior year, file a completed Virginia Intermont application, and submit all appropriate secondary school transcripts and standardized test scores to Virginia Intermont. Selections for acceptance to Virginia Intermont are based on scholastic success and community service. Students receiving the CPI scholarships and accepted to Virginia Intermont are also eligible to receive additional scholarships through Virginia Intermont performance and academic awards.
