Staff Positions

IT Specialist



Overview: Techs install and test PCs, fix performance issues, diagnose hardware-related problems, and repair campus computers. Troubleshoot, maintain or repair all peripherals, new-age storage devices and multiple software that are plugged into or installed on desktops or laptops.  This is a full-time position with benefits.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning computer hardware according to manufacturers’ specifications
  • Monitoring computer hardware performance and diagnosing problems, along with adjusting,     repairing, and replace worn or defective parts
  • Upgrading computers through the addition of new hardware, such as additional RAM or drive
  • Setting up new configurations of equipment for temporary activities
  • Performing testing of equipment that has been repaired, prior to returning the equipment to         the user
  • Operate other systems such as time clocks, cameras and smart classroom equipment
  • Helps in maintaining user access to network
  • Provide one-on-one consulting to end-users
  • Manage campus Lab computers
  • Provide computer repair for students and staff
  • Virus/malware removal from campus computers
  • Campus printer maintenance and printer toner acquisition/refill

 

Requirements:  

  • Education: High school or equivalent, some higher education in a technical field is a plus
  • A+ Certification preferable but not required
  • Combination of education and experience so as to demonstrate proficiency in PC configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Must have working knowledge of Windows XP, Vista. Mac OS experience is a plus
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003 – 2007
  • Must be familiar with virus/malware removal
  • Experience with backup/recovery of workstation data/software/user settings
  • Basic networking skills that demonstrate the ability to connect and configure computers to the network
  • Individuals must be outgoing, organized, friendly, hard working, and able to follow direction and a team player

Advancement Services and Gift Coordinator



The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of information technology systems, preferably with Jenzabar EX software. The candidate should have a history of accurate data gathering and reporting and should have the ability to coordinate confidential information with the highest level of professionalism. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently at times, but should be flexible to assist the Advancement Office with all departmental functions and special events, while embracing the mission and goals of VIC.  The Advancement Services and Gift Coordinator will report to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.  

 

Primary Functions: 

  • Coordinate all gift entries, acknowledgements and tax receipts for charitable gifts.
  • Constantly update and refresh donor and alumni information in the data system while working with third party data resource organizations to update data, add data and manipulate data for reporting purposes.
  • Work with the project manager to facilitate the contact and data management related to multiple appeals/communications to constituency groups throughout the year such as the distribution of the college magazine, annual giving appeals, event announcements, special fundraising campaigns, etc. 
  • Coordinate weekly, monthly, and quarterly giving reports and other reports as needed in support of the Advancement Department and its initiatives.
  • Research past, present and future constituents, including individuals and foundations.
  • Assist the Department with ongoing activities, special events and fundraising opportunities like Alumni Weekend, VI Classic horse show, VI golf tournament, Seniors Program, etc.
  • Coordinate the rental of certain campus facilities for internal use by VI groups and organizations. Coordinate the rental of campus facilities to external groups and organizations to produce revenue for the College.
  • Greet alums, seniors and guests to the Department.

Athletic Trainer (part-time)



Virginia Intermont College seeks qualified candidates for the position of part-time Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities would encompass all aspects of athletic training including game/event coverage, training room coverage, record-keeping, and rehabilitation at the collegiate level.  Candidates must be NATA-BOC certified, liscensed in Virginia (or eligible), and possess current CPR certifications.  Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.  This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the athletic training field. This position is part-time, 25 hours a week, 10 month position with health benefits.   Position will remain open until filled.

Website Manager



Description:
The Website Manager is a full-time, permanent position reporting within the Office of the President through the Director of Public Relations & Marketing.  The Website Manager will manage the design, content, and technical aspects of the College Website.  All materials and content must conform to College standards and policies.  The Website Manager also will produce and provide content for online newsletters for College marketing strategies.  In addition, the Website Manager will analyze and look for ways to increase website traffic flows.

 

 Duties:

  • Prepare annual plans for the Website identifying goals, objectives, and budget requirements, and maintain financial information pertaining to Website operation.
  • Design, conceptualize, write and assemble exceptional online content.
  • Manage the content, flow, accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility of Website material through coordination with departmental content proponents.  Ensure that all material achieves a uniform appearance and theme across departments and is readily accessible to appropriate users.
  • Work with College staff and faculty on multi-media projects, and produce graphic information to support College marketing and advertising.
  • Maintain proficiency in new protocols, techniques, and web technologies.  Serve as liaison with the College Information Technology staff.
  • Participate in College committee activities most relevant to this position.  Available to make time sensitive website updates after normal work hours (I.E. inclement weather updates security alerts).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in English, communications, or a related field. Strong writing skills and experience in writing required. Significant experience in web applications, development, and design.
  • Professional experience as a Website Manager and content producer/Internet/Intranet Administrator, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in use of CMS/ Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, FTP Clients, Microsoft office, HTML, CSS, XTML, PHP, and multiple web browsers.
  • Other useful skills/knowledge include: ASP, NET, Apache, digital photography, editing, graphic design, Flash web design, and virtual communities including Facebook, MYSPACE, LinkedIn, YouTube, RSS, browser compatibility, and web-based marketing tools (E.G. virtual tours, podcasts, newsletters, streaming video, etc.).

Adjunct Faculty - Dance

Virginia Intermont College seeks an Assistant Professor of Tourism. Responsibilities include teaching tourism and related business classes, recruiting and advising students, overseeing tourism internships, providing college committee service, and developing a curriculum for cultural tourism. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing or a Ph.D. in Hospitality & Tourism, with research interests in cultural tourism and experience in the tourism industry; minimum qualifications are a Master’s in Hospitality & Tourism or Business and extensive experience in the tourism industry. Candidates should have a desire to develop professional relationships with local and regional tourism industries such the Chamber of Commerce, adventure tourism upstarts, NASCAR, and local music festivals.
