Do you excel in the acting, musical, or technical aspects of theatre? The Virginia Intermont Theatre Department encourages talented students to audition and interview for merit-based scholarships available to theatre majors. If interested, please prepare the following according to your program of interest:

Audition: Theatre Arts – Acting or Education

  • Two contrasting monologues, lasting no longer than two minutes each, memorized;
  • A résumé or a list of your experiences in theatre and other performing arts;
  • A headshot photograph of yourself.

Audition: Theatre Arts – Musical Theatre

  • Two contrasting monologues, lasting no longer than two minutes each, memorized;
  • A résumé or a list of your experiences in theatre and other performing arts;
  • A headshot photograph of yourself;
  • A 16-32 measure section of a song to sing that allows you to demonstrate your vocal range and quality. The selection must be memorized. You may bring own accompanist, a recorded accompaniment, or sing a capella.

Interview: Theatre Arts – Design & Technology

  • A résumé or list of your experiences in theatre and other performing arts. This will help you discuss your experience and career goals with our faculty;
  • You may also bring one or more of the following:
    - A portfolio of past productions on which you have worked; this may include sketches, photos, programs, technical drawings, reviews, etc. Your portfolio may be presented in traditional form (paper) or on a computer disc;
    - A list of productions on which you have worked, including job(s) performed on each;
    - Other artwork: drawings, paintings, photography, etc.
