Mississippi native Lena Stevens ’13 never stops in her globetrotting adventures. While a photography student at VI, she spent a summer in Alaska and a semester in India, embracing new cultures and photographing her surroundings. After graduating in May 2013 with a degree in photography and a minor in Cultural Heritage Studies, Stevens continues to seek one adventure after another – her current stint being in Antarctica, where she works at McMurdo Station.
Stevens is also an entertaining writer and often blogs about her adventures – chock full of cultural insight, literary quotes and random thoughts. Her latest blog is called Travelin’ Trunks. While in Antarctica she has begun publishing a newsletter sharing her observations, events, photographs, and of course her enthusiasm for the place she calls “frozen paradise.” Read about why “Antarctica is freaking weird,” her coldest photo shoot, and her new position at Ice Town in her latest newsletter Antarctica Newsletter.
