Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a Baptist or a Christian to major in religion?
No! Although the religion major is focused mostly on Christian doctrine, Intermont offers classes that cover other religions and their ideals as well.

Are there chapel requirements or other required activities for religion majors?

No, chapel attendance is not required of any VI students. However, religion majors are strongly encouraged to participate in service-related activities and outreach projects that are handled through the Chaplain’s office.

What other extracurricular activities are there that focus on religion?
The Chaplain’s Office, along with the Christian Student Union at VI, regularly schedules outreach activities, such as volunteering at the local Haven of Rest Rescue mission and other similar activities. Additionally, there are many churches in the area that welcome the support and volunteer work of students. Prayer meetings, which are open to the entire campus, are also held at VI on a weekly basis.
